WHAT IF WE DO NOT LIVE IN AGOURA OR WESTLAKE VILLAGE?

No problem!  WAGS and USA Softball do not utilize geographical restrictions for league formation.  Any girl is eligible to play with WAGS.

WHAT IF MY DAUGHTER HAS NEVER PLAYED SOFTBALL?

That's what our Recreation League is all about: Learning to Play.  WAGS Spring recreation season is open to all girls, regardless of experience.  The season is desgined to be fun, instructional, and challenging.

HOW ARE TEAMS ORGANIZED?

In early January, players in 8U and older divisions participation in player evaluations.  Approved managers then conduct a player draft that incorporates skills, player requests to play with friends or for a particular manager, and a scoring system that works to balance teams.

WHAT IS THE SKILLS EVALUATION?

It is NOT a "try-out"...EVERYONE makes a team.  Skills Evaluation allows players to demonstrate key softball skills (running, hitting, throwing, and fielding) and specialized skills (pitching and catching).  Divsion directors and managers use evaluation scores to evenly balance talent across teams.  Only 8U-14U players must attend Skills Evaluations.

CAN MY DAUGHTERS BE ON THE SAME TEAM?

If both daughters are in the same age division, we will place them on the same team during the player draft.

CAN MY DAUGHTER BE ON THE SAME TEAM AS HER FRIEND?

Although we work to accommodate all "friend requests", building teams with equivalent talent is key to the draft process; and therefore, we cannot guarantee your daughter will play on any particular team.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO WE NEED?

All players must provide their own batting helmet, glove, bat and cleats.  Please refer to the Equipment Page for additional information

WHEN AND WHERE ARE GAMES PLAYED?

Most games are on Saturdays and Sundays, with a few Friday night games under the lights.
Tee-Ball & 6U divisions only play on weekends
Games occur at schools and parks in Agoura, Westlake, and Oak Park

WHEN ARE PRACTICES?

Except in TeeBall, teams practice at least once a week, on weekday afternoons/evenings.  Managers may opt to conduct additional practices.
Tee-Ball practices occur during the 30 minutes prior to each game

WHAT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE?

WAGS is entirely operated by volunteers.  During the season, each team must fill the following volunteer positions: team sponsor, concessions coordinator, yearbook coordinator, scorekeeper, picture day coordinator, field set-up, team parent, and assistant coaches

Please help make it a great season and volunteer your time

DO I HAVE TO STAY AT PRACTICES & GAMES?

Although we recommend actively supporting your daughter and her teammates by attending all practices and games, the league does not require you to stay.

Please return prior to the end time for all practices and games.  Managers may not leave the field until they ensure all players have been picked up by an approved adult

IF I STILL HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT UNIFORMS, FIELDS, ETC?
